Dak Prescott DAL QB
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Says hamstring is improving
8h agoPrescott said Friday that he is progressing in his recovery from a torn right hamstring to the extent that he could theoretically play now, if needed, per ESPN.com. "If I had to play a game today, I definitely could do that," Prescott stated.
Prescott's season came to an end after just eight games last season due to the hamstring injury, and he underwent surgery in mid-November. The veteran quarterback has been rehabbing since, and his comments Friday suggest that everything has gone smoothly in his recovery. Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said in late March that Prescott will be limited during the initial portion of the Cowboys' offseason program, but Jones also mentioned that Prescott's rehab was going well. It appears both the organization and the player are eyeing a cautious approach to organized team activities, which begin in May, as Prescott indicated Friday that he'll take part in some capacity but added, "Then again I just understand my age, what I've had, what I've went through, it's about being my best in the fall. So I'm not rushing anything, but I'm where I want to be."

Kevin King ATL CB
Falcons' Kevin King: Returning to Atlanta
11h agoKing re-signed with the Falcons on Friday, Terrin Waack of the team's official site reports.
In his first campaign with Atlanta last season, King tallied 10 tackles and two defensed passes over 15 games. He started just once and logged more snaps (159) on special teams than on defense (69). King will likely have a similar role this season since both A.J. Terrell and Mike Hughes are likely to retain their starting jobs at cornerback.

Kader Kohou MIA CB
Dolphins' Kader Kohou: Officially back with Miami
12h agoKohou signed his $3.3 million tender with the Dolphins on Friday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
Miami tendered Kohou in early March, and the 26-year-old is now set to return for a fourth campaign with the club. Kohou logged career lows with 671 defensive snaps, 45 tackles and eight defensed passes over 15 games last season, though he did nab a career-best two pickoffs. He started nine of those 15 contests and could be headed for a starting role in 2025 pending additional moves made by Miami.

Derek Carr NO QB
Saints' Derek Carr: May require shoulder surgery
1d agoCarr (shoulder/hand) is nursing a shoulder injury that may require surgery and could impact his availability for the 2025 season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Carr, who missed seven games in 2024 (including the Saints' final four contests) due to a left oblique injury and a fractured left hand, is now dealing with an injury that could significantly impact the Saints' coming season, as well as the team's decisions in April's draft. Further details regarding the veteran signal-caller's injury should be forthcoming, but Rapoport reports that surgery is among the options being considered by Carr and New Orleans. With only Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener and Ben DiNucci currently available behind Carr on the depth chart, the Saints figure to be increasingly motivated to explore remaining free agency options at quarterback, and the team's decision at No. 9 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft could now more realistically trend toward the position.
-
Drew Lock NYG QB
Seahawks' Drew Lock: Reunites with Seattle
1d agoLock agreed to terms Friday on a contract with the Seahawks, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Lock struggled amid less than ideal circumstances with the Giants last year, completing 59.1 percent of his passes for 1,071 yards, six touchdowns and five interceptions across eight regular-season appearances. He now returns to Seattle, where in he suited up for four regular-season games in 2023 and looked modestly better while mustering a 63.0 percent completion rate, 543 passing yards, three touchdowns and three INTs. The 28-year-old figures to spend the offseason competing with Sam Howell for the top backup gig behind Sam Darnold.

Andrei Iosivas CIN WR
Bengals' Andrei Iosivas: Adds muscle in offseason
1d agoIosivas said Thursday he's added roughly 15 pounds this offseason, bulking up to a weight of 220 as part of his workout regimen, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
Iosivas officially weighed in at 205 pounds last season but said he usually played at nearer to 207, so his offseason transformation has already been drastic. The 2023 sixth-round pick said he aims to play between 215-220 pounds in 2025, saying "that'd be ideal because I really feel like I'm moving better and I'm faster and stronger." At 6-foot-3, Iosivas is already a dangerous target in the red zone, having scored six times on just 36 catches in 2024. If Iosivas' claim that his added size and strength haven't negatively impacted his quickness translates to on-field activities, he'll be primed to enter Year 3 as significant ancillary complement to top wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, both whom inked massive long-term deals with Cincinnati in March.

Nick Castellanos PHI RF
Phillies' Nick Castellanos: Sparks offense in win
4m agoCastellanos went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Cardinals.
His first-inning two-bagger brought home Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber, giving the Phillies all the offense they would need on the afternoon, but Castellanos added another double in the eighth for good measure. It was the second three-hit performance in the last five games for the veteran outfielder, pushing his slash line to .308/.357/.519 through 14 appearances with two homers and nine RBI.

Ryan Gusto HOU RP
Astros' Ryan Gusto: Drops first start
8m agoGusto (1-1) took the loss Saturday against the Angels, allowing three runs on four hits over four innings. He struck out six.
The Angels got to Gusto early, opening the first inning with three straight hits to plate two runs. The 26-year-old Gusto would manage to stop the bleeding until Nolan Schanuel's solo home run in the fourth. Overall, it was an up-and-down effort for Gusto in his first big-league start -- he had allowed just one run in eight innings out of the bullpen while striking out nine prior to Saturday. Gusto figures to remain in the Astros' rotation with Spencer Arrighetti (thumb) expected to miss the next six weeks. Gusto is tentatively in line for a tough home matchup with the Padres in his next outing.
-
Jose Alvarado PHI RP
Phillies' Jose Alvarado: Collects third save
12m agoAlvarado struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his third save of the season in a 4-1 win over the Cardinals.
The lefty continued his dominant start to the season. Alvarado has only been scored upon in one of his seven appearances so far, racking up two wins and a hold in addition to his saves along with a 1.23 ERA and 13:2 K:BB through 7.1 innings. While the Phillies' bullpen has a long history of volatility, Alvarado is the team's clear top high-leverage option right now.
-
Kenley Jansen LAA RP
Angels' Kenley Jansen: Grabs fourth save
15m agoJansen earned the save in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Angels, allowing one hit while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.
Jansen worked around a one-out single to improve to 4-for-4 in save chances this year. It's been a nice start to the season for the 37-year-old closer -- Jansen has delivered six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out seven in that span.
-
Cristopher Sanchez PHI SP
Phillies' Cristopher Sanchez: Sharp in first win of 2025
15m agoSanchez (1-0) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on eight hits and two walks over 6.1 innings in a 4-1 victory over the Cardinals. He struck out three.
The southpaw took a shutout into the sixth inning before Luken Baker rapped a one-out double -- the only extra-base hit off Sanchez on the afternoon -- and was brought home by a Willson Contreras single. Sanchez still walked away with his first win and first quality start of the season, having tossed 64 of 95 pitches for strikes. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Giants.
-
Luis Ortiz CLE SP
Guardians' Luis L. Ortiz: Strikes out 10 in win
16m agoOrtiz (1-2) earned the win against the Royals on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and two walks with 10 strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
Ortiz was a solo homer away from a dominant outing, racking up 16 whiffs on 100 pitches to earn his first win of the season. The 26-year-old owns a 6.06 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB across 16.1 innings, though much of the damage to his ratios stems from a seven-run outing March 31. He's slated to face his former team, the Pirates, in Pittsburgh next weekend.

Fred VanVleet HOU PG
Rockets' Fred VanVleet: Will be available Sunday
3m agoVanVleet (ankle) is not on the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Nuggets.
The Rockets rested their regular rotation players in the last two contests, but that won't be the case Sunday, because this is the final chance the Rockets will have to log competitive minutes until the playoffs start April 19. As such, the veteran floor general should handle his regular workload in the backcourt while operating as the Rockets' primary playmaker. VanVleet is averaging 12.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game since the All-Star break, so he's not exactly heading into the playoffs in his best form.

-
Alperen Sengun HOU C

8m agoSengun (personal) is not on the injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Nuggets.

-
Samuel Ersson PHI G
Flyers' Samuel Ersson: Third win in last four starts
6m agoErsson made 37 saves in a 4-3 shootout win over the Islanders on Saturday.
He was also perfect through five rounds of the shootout. Ersson has impressed in stretches this season, which hit a high point in late January when he was selected to represent Sweden at the 4 Nations Face-Off and in February when he beat the United States. Ersson has won three of his last four starts (3-1-0), but playing behind a porous Flyers team makes him a risk every time he hits the ice. But with his talent, he could be a valuable fantasy play when this team takes its step forward in a couple seasons.
-
Jakob Pelletier PHI LW
Flyers' Jakob Pelletier: Six points in last seven games
15m agoPelletier scored a goal in a 4-3 shootout win over the Islanders on Saturday.
Pelletier is on a three-game, three-point scoring streak that includes two goals, and he has points in six of his last seven games (three goals, three assists). Pelletier's game has finally come alive in Philly. Prior to this run, he has just two assists in 16 games in orange and black. Pelletier is a first-round pick (2019) who has been slow to launch, but he has every opportunity to become an offensive contributor in the next couple of years.
-

Blues' Colton Parayko: Good to return Saturday
36m agoParayko (knee) will draw into the lineup Saturday versus Seattle.
Parayko was projected to return Tuesday against Utah, but it seems he's ready ahead of schedule. The 31-year-old has 15 goals and 35 points in 62 appearances in 2024-25. Parayko's return coincides with Philip Broberg (personal) exiting the lineup.
