Trey Sermon IND RB
Steelers' Trey Sermon: Set to join Pittsburgh
3h agoThe Steelers are signing Sermon to a one-year contract, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.
Sermon was a third-round draft pick by the 49ers in 2021, but he's yet to make a major impact at the NFL level. The 26-year-old spent the past two seasons with Indianapolis, and he logged a career-high 236 offensive snaps over 17 regular-season games last year, though he averaged just 2.8 yards on 56 carries while scoring a career-high two rushing touchdowns. Sermon also logged 99 receiving yards on 16 catches and contributed on special teams late in the campaign. With Najee Harris now with the Chargers, Pittsburgh has rebuilt its running back room behind returning starter Jaylen Warren, adding both Sermon and Kenneth Gainwell in free agency along with third-round draft choice Kaleb Johnson.

Dre Greenlaw DEN LB
Broncos' Dre Greenlaw: On track for training camp
22h agoBroncos head coach Sean Payton said Saturday that Greenlaw (quadriceps) is "on schedule" and "will be a full participant in training camp," Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
Greenlaw suffered a torn quadriceps while training in April, and while it sounds like the injury could limit the veteran linebacker during OTAs and/or mandatory minicamp, he remains fully on track for training camp. After signing a three-year, $35 million contract with Denver this offseason, Greenlaw is on track to handle a starting role at inside linebacker for the Broncos.

Quincy Riley NO CB
Saints' Quincy Riley: Recovering from surgery
23h agoRiley (undisclosed) is not participating in Saturday's rookie minicamp session due to his recovery from offseason surgery, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore declined to reveal the specifics of Riley's surgery, but he did note that the rookie fourth-round pick's current injury is unrelated to the ankle issue he dealt with during his time at Louisville. The next chance for Riley to take a tangible step forward in his recovery and begin handling on-field work will come during OTAs in late May or mandatory minicamp in June.

Kalel Mullings TEN RB
Titans' Kalel Mullings: Limited at rookie minicamp
23h agoTitans head coach Brian Callahan said Saturday that Mullings (abdomen) is recovering from core muscle surgery and will be limited at rookie minicamp, John Glennon of NashvillePost.com reports.
Tennessee selected Mullings in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft with knowledge of his offseason procedure, so his current capped participation level at rookie minicamp is simply the result of following his recovery timetable. Once fully healthy, Mullings will work to earn a depth role behind Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears (concussion). Callahan said the Titans are "just being careful with [Mullings] at this point," per Zach Dimmitt of SI.com.

Kevin Winston Jr. TEN SAF
Titans' Kevin Winston Jr.: Not participating yet
23h agoTitans head coach Brian Callahan said Saturday that Winston (knee) isn't ready to practice in full at rookie minicamp but will be on the practice field, John Glennon of NashvillePost.com reports.
Winston missed most of the 2024 college season due to a right ACL injury but progressed enough in his recovery to run the 40-yard dash at Penn State's pro day, with Tennessee then selecting him in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Callahan called Winston "limited" to start rookie minicamp, per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site, so mandatory minicamp in June may be the next significant chance he'll have to notably increase his on-field activity level.

Jake Haener NO QB
Saints' Jake Haener: Will compete for QB1 job
1d agoSaints head coach Kellen Moore said Saturday that all three of the team's currently rostered quarterbacks -- Haener, Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler -- will have an opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback role during camp in the wake of Derek Carr's retirement, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Carr's unexpected retirement Saturday swung the door wide open for one of New Orleans' three young quarterbacks to take the reigns as the team's starting QB in 2025. None of the trio has much experience -- Shough is a rookie, Haener has thrown just 39 NFL passes, and Rattler has thrown 228 passes -- so they are beginning the competition on a pretty level playing field in that regard. However, Haener is probably a longshot to earn the QB1 nod based on the fact that Rattler was the primary choice to step in last season after Carr was hurt, while Shough has the most invested in him, as the Saints selected him in the second round of April's NFL Draft. Haener also looked overwhelmed in his lone NFL start, completing just four of 10 passes for 49 yards and an interception in Week 15 last season before being benched after halftime.

Trent Grisham NYY CF
Yankees' Trent Grisham: Heading to bench Sunday
17m agoGrisham is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.
He'll hit the bench for the second time in four games while the Yankees go with a starting outfield of Jasson Dominguez, Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge for the series finale. Along with Dominguez, Bellinger and designated hitter Ben Rice, Grisham is part of a four-man group vying for three spots in the Yankees' regular lineup against right-handed pitching in a given game.
-
Lawrence Butler ATH RF
Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Not in Sunday's lineup
19m agoButler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees.
Butler started the past seven games but will receive a day off after going 6-for-31 (.194 average) with a 28.1 percent strikeout rate during that span. Miguel Andujar will shift to right field while Gio Urshela starts at the hot corner in the series finale versus New York.

Jarlin Susana WAS SP
Nationals' Jarlin Susana: Shut down with elbow sprain
22m agoDouble-A Harrisburg placed Susana on its 7-day injured list Saturday due to a Grade 1 UCL sprain in his right elbow, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
One of Washington's top pitching prospects, Susana was diagnosed with the injury following his most recent start with Harrisburg on May 4. Nationals manager Dave Martinez said that a Grade 1 sprain represents a "best-case scenario" for the 21-year-old righty, but he'll still be shut down from throwing for at least two weeks. The hard-throwing Susana has racked up 38 strikeouts over 26 innings with Harrisburg this season, but he's issued 20 walks and has turned in a 1.69 WHIP.
-
Gabriel Moreno ARI C
Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Receiving breather Sunday
23m agoMoreno is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Moreno started the first three games of the series and will get a breather Sunday after going 4-for-13 with a grand slam and a stolen base. Jose Herrera will take over behind the plate and catch for Zac Gallen in the series finale.
-
Cade Cavalli WAS SP
Nationals' Cade Cavalli: Activated and optioned
27m agoThe Nationals reinstated Cavalli (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.
After making his MLB debut with the Nationals in 2022, Cavalli had been limited to just 8.1 total innings -- all in the minors -- over the past two seasons while recovering from March 2023 Tommy John surgery and related setbacks. He reported healthy to spring training but was brought along slowly before being cleared to begin a rehab assignment April 19. Cavalli began his assignment at Single-A Fredericksburg before getting transferred to Double-A Harrisburg and eventually settling at Rochester, where he had made his last two rehab starts. He'll now stick around with Rochester and should continue to make regular turns through the rotation, but Cavalli remains on the Nationals' 40-man roster and could get another look in the big leagues later on this season if a starting role opens up.

Ketel Marte ARI 2B
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Heading to bench Sunday
31m agoMarte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Marte started the first three games of the series versus Los Angeles and went 4-for-10 with a double and three homers, but he'll take a seat for Sunday's finale. Tim Tawa will start at the keystone and bat eighth for Arizona against righty Tony Gonsolin.

Hunter Tyson DEN SF
Nuggets' Hunter Tyson: Late addition to injury report
32m agoTyson has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 4 against the Thunder due to a right ankle sprain.
Tyson was a late addition to the injury report after presumably twisting his ankle during warmups. He didn't appear in Games 1 or 3 but saw 12 minutes during Denver's Game 2 blowout loss, posting eight points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal.

OG Anunoby NY SF
Knicks' OG Anunoby: Struggles in blowout loss
4h agoAnunoby supplied two points (1-6 FG, 0-2 3Pt), two rebounds and one assist across 31 minutes during Saturday's 115-93 loss to the Celtics in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Anunoby delivered another lackluster performance in Saturday's blowout loss, scoring fewer than six points for the second straight outing. The 27-year-old forward erupted for 29 points in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, though he has totaled only seven points while shooting 3-for-15 from the field over his last two games. Anunoby will likely need to step up if the team hopes to take a 3-1 series lead against the Celtics on Monday. He has averaged 12.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 steals across 38.3 minutes per game in three second-round appearances.
-
Josh Hart NY SF
Knicks' Josh Hart: Tallies two swats in loss
4h agoHart posted 10 points (3-9 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 34 minutes during Saturday's 115-93 loss to Boston in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Hart led the Knicks in blocks during the blowout loss, chipping in multiple swats for the second straight outing. However, he was inefficient on the offensive end. The 30-year-old forward has shot 51.5 percent from the field over three second-round appearances, though he has shot only 28.6 percent from three-point range. Hart has averaged 15.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 blocks across 40.7 minutes per contest in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Horford recorded his highest point total since March 31 in the victory, tying the team-high mark in rebounds as well. The veteran big man also chipped in multiple blocks for the third time over eight playoff appearances. Horford has averaged 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals across 32.7 minutes per game in three second-round appearances (two starts).

4h agoBrown recorded 19 points (7-18 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 36 minutes during Saturday's 115-93 win over the Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brown finished as one of five Celtics to score at least 15 points, though he was fairly inefficient in the win. The 28-year-old forward has struggled to find the net thus far in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, shooting 36.1 percent from the field and 21.7 percent from beyond the arc. He has averaged 20.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.0 steals across 40.7 minutes per game in three second-round appearances.
-
Jrue Holiday BOS PG
Celtics' Jrue Holiday: Efficient in blowout win
4h agoHoliday logged eight points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt), four assists, two rebounds and one steal over 25 minutes during Saturday's 115-93 victory over the Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Holiday received limited playing time during the blowout victory, contributing single-digit points for the second time over five playoff appearances. The veteran guard has played in all three second-round matchups after a three-game absence due to a strained right hamstring. During that three-game span, Holiday has averaged 11.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals across 32.7 minutes per contest.

Golden Knights' Mark Stone: Considered day-to-day
16m agoStone (upper body) won't skate Sunday and is day-to-day ahead of Monday's Game 4 matchup versus Edmonton, according to Jesse Granger of The Athletic.

The 32-year-old forward has four goals, eight points, 20 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and nine hits through nine outings this postseason.
