Jonah Williams LAR DE
Vikings' Jonah Williams: Joining Vikings
1h agoWilliams has agreed to sign a contract with the Vikings, Ben Goessling of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Williams visited Minnesota on Monday, and it did not take long for him to come to terms on a contract. The 28-year-old spent his first three seasons with the Rams and accumulated 49 tackles (20 solo) during the 2023 campaign.

Mario Edwards SEA DE
Mario Edwards: Visits Houston
13h agoEdwards (knee) had a visit with the Texans on Monday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Edwards missed the final game of the 2023 season due to a knee injury. His visit in Houston indicates he has put that injury behind him. The journeyman recorded 21 tackles (15 solo), one pass defensed and one forced fumble across 15 games for Seattle last season. He is now looking for a new opportunity.

Chase Young SF DE
Saints' Chase Young: Officially joins New Orleans
14h agoThe Saints and Young agreed to a contract Monday.
According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com, Young's new deal will be for one year. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 Draft, Young earned Defensive Rookie of the Year honors to kick off his career, but his next two seasons were derailed by injuries, and he split 2023 between the Commanders and 49ers. With 16.5 sacks in 43 games in his first four campaigns, he'll be a part of a New Orleans pass rush that features Cameron Jordan and Carl Granderson.

Joshua Dobbs MIN QB
49ers' Joshua Dobbs: Finds work in San Francisco
15h agoThe 49ers and Dobbs agreed to a contract Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
In 13 games (12 starts) between the Cardinals and Vikings this past season, Dobbs completed 262 of 417 (62.8 percent) of his passes for 2,464 yards, 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also was viable as a runner, averaging 5.5 yards on his 77 carries while scoring six TDs on the ground. Brock Purdy is the unquestioned starting quarterback for San Francisco, but Dobbs' recent on-field work should give him a leg up on the backup job ahead of holdover Brandon Allen.

Rico Dowdle DAL RB
Cowboys' Rico Dowdle: Remaining with Dallas
15h agoDowdle is set to re-sign with the Cowboys, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Following the free-agent departure of Tony Pollard, Dowdle is poised to reclaim his role in a Dallas backfield that also currently includes Deuce Vaughn, Malik Davis and Snoop Conner. Chances are, the Cowboys will add further RB depth via free agency or the draft, so until the team's personnel at the position is settled, Dowdle's fantasy upside for the 2024 season will be difficult to gauge.
-
Alexander Mattison MIN RB
Raiders' Alexander Mattison: Set to join Las Vegas backfield
15h agoMattison is in line to sign with the Raiders, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
In 16 games for the Vikings during the 2023 regular season, Mattison had 180 carries for 700 yards and caught 30 of his 44 targets for 192 yards and three receiving TDs. With the Raiders, Mattison -- who turns 26 in June -- is slated to provide the team with needed backfield depth and a complementary option alongside 2022 fourth-rounder Zamir White following the free-agent departure of Josh Jacobs. Assuming White serves as Las Vegas' top RB option, Mattison's weekly upside will be modest, but if White is injured or struggles at all as the 2024 season progresses, Mattison could reenter the fantasy lineup equation.

Ryan Mountcastle BAL 1B
Orioles' Ryan Mountcastle: Set to return Wednesday
30m agoMountcastle (neck) expects to play in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Phillies, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
A return for Tuesday's exhibition had been mentioned as possibility, though that was seen as a best-case scenario after Mountcastle reported neck stiffness over the weekend. He will instead stay back and take live batting practice to prepare for his return to action Wednesday. The 27-year-old has had a bit of a slow spring with a .592 OPS in nine games, but he appears on track to be ready for Opening Day and still projects to see a lot of playing time at DH to begin the season.

Zach Eflin TB SP
Rays' Zach Eflin: Confirmed for Opening Day
42m agoEflin will start for the Rays on Opening Day, March 28 at home against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
This had been widely assumed after Eflin turned in a career year in 2023, leading the team in innings pitched, wins and strikeouts. We now have confirmation that Eflin will start Opening Day, which lines him up for two starts on the season-opening homestand. The results this spring don't look good, but the right-hander has already built up to four innings and should be able to stretch out a bit more before he takes the hill in a game that counts.

Ceddanne Rafaela BOS CF
Red Sox's Ceddanne Rafaela: Enters game as infielder
1h agoRafaela entered Monday's spring game at second base and went 0-for-1 against the Twins.
Rafaela made his first spring appearance in the infield, although he's played second base in the minors. There was some talk of him filling in at second base while Vaughn Grissom (groin) recovers, but Red Sox manager Alex Cora announced a platoon, involving Enmanuel Valdez and Pablo Reyes, at the keystone to start the season, per Alex Speier of The Boston Globe. That means if Rafaela makes the Opening Day roster, it will likely be as the team's primary center fielder.
-
Connor Wong BOS C
Red Sox's Connor Wong: Homers in two straight
1h agoWong started at catcher and went 2-for-3 with with a two-run home run in Monday's spring game against the Twins.
Wong went deep for the second time in as many games, upping his spring line to .433/.469/.833 with eight extra-base hits and eight RBI over 30 Grapefruit League at-bats. The spring production is a sign that offseason adjustments have worked, per Ian Browne of MLB.com. "He's made adjustments," manager Alex Cora said. "It started towards the end of the [2023] season. And in the offseason, [hitting coach] Pete [Fatse] came down here to Fort Myers. They started cleaning up a few things with the leg kick and all that." Wong said he's shorter to the baseball and trying to eliminate the swing-and-miss and choose better pitches overall. In 2023, Wong struck out 134 times in 403 plate appearances (33.3 K%).
-
Nick Pivetta BOS RP
Red Sox's Nick Pivetta: Works into fifth inning
1h agoPivetta allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five over four-plus innings in Monday's spring start against Minnesota.
Pivetta, whose pitch count reached 79 in his penultimate spring outing, was removed in the fifth inning after the first batter reached on a single. For those calendar watchers, Pivetta's five-day schedule lines up perfectly with Opening Day, March 28, on the road in Seattle. The right-hander has a 5.25 spring ERA with 13 strikeouts and three walks over 12 innings.
-
Josh Jung TEX 3B
Rangers' Josh Jung: Serves as DH
2h agoJung (calf) served as the designated hitter in a minor-league game Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.
In order to get as many at-bats as possible, Jung was the leadoff batter in every inning and went 2-for-4 with two singles. Texas manager Bruce Bochy is hopeful Jung will be ready to go by Opening Day and sees the third baseman playing in two exhibition game against the Red Sox at Globe Life Field on March 25-26. The manager has not ruled out a start in a Cactus League game before the Rangers break camp.

Anderson put forth an all-around showing while receiving another start for the Timberwolves, ending as one of five players with 10 or more points to go along with a half-dozen rebounds and a handful of assists in a winning effort. Pacers' Obi Toppin: Good night on glass
2m agoToppin closed Monday's 108-103 loss to the Cavaliers with 10 points (4-6 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and one steal in 20 minutes off the bench.
The performance was as close to a double-double as Toppin has come since he went off for 23 and 11 against the Suns on Jan. 26. The fourth-year forward has settled into a consistent but modest role in the Indiana frontcourt, and over 13 games since the All-Star break he's averaging 8.2 points, 4.1 boards, 1.4 assists and 0.8 threes over 18.5 minutes a contest.
-

It's Siakam's 12th double-double of the season, and seventh in 28 games since joining the Pacers. Five of them have come in the last 10 games, a stretch in which the 29-year-old forward is averaging 19.6 points, 8.8 boards, 3.2 assists and 0.9 steals while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor.
-
Tyrese Haliburton IND PG
Pacers' Tyrese Haliburton: Winds up with double-double Monday
8m agoHaliburton notched 14 points (4-14 FG, 1-9 3Pt, 5-5 FT), six rebounds, 12 assists, one block and one steal across 32 minutes during Monday's 108-103 loss to the Cavaliers.
The fourth-year point guard headed to the locker room in the second quarter for an undisclosed reason, but Haliburton was back out for the second half and delivered his 39th double-double of the season. His shot volume and efficiency continue to be down from the elite form he displayed earlier in the season, however -- he hasn't scored at least 25 points in a contest since Feb. 22, and through nine games in March, Haliburton is averaging 15.2 points, 9.4 assists, 5.0 boards, 1.2 threes and 0.8 blocks while shooting just 39.8 percent from the floor and a woeful 16.9 percent from long distance.
-
Klay Thompson GS SG
Warriors' Klay Thompson: Turns in 18 points
8m agoThompson closed with 18 points (6-15 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, eight assists, one block and two steals in 31 minutes during Monday's 119-112 loss to the Knicks.
Thompson's perimeter game was on point during Monday's loss. The sharpshooter has drilled five-three pointers in four of his last six games, resulting in a six-game average of 20.8 points. That figure is over three points higher than his seasonal average of 17.2 points. The veteran is struggling with a 38.5 percent three-point conversion rate this season, matching a career low.
-
Jarrett Allen CLE C
Cavaliers' Jarrett Allen: Hits for 23 against Pacers
13m agoAllen accumulated 23 points (8-12 FG, 7-8 FT), nine rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal across 34 minutes during Monday's 108-103 victory over Indiana.
The 25-year-old center topped 20 points for the first time in five games while just missing his 34th double-double of the season. Allen has stepped up a bit in March while Donovan Mitchell (nose) has had trouble staying on the court, and over 10 games on the month the big man is averaging 17.9 points, 11.6 boards, 2.3 assists and 1.4 blocks while shooting 56.0 percent from the floor.

Brayden Pachal CGY D
Flames' Brayden Pachal: Adds helper in loss
7h agoPachal posted an assist, two blocked shots and four PIM in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Pachal set up a Kevin Rooney tally in the second period. While Pachal has been limited to third-pairing minutes, he's been in the lineup regularly over the likes of Dennis Gilbert and Nikita Okhotyuk over the last couple of weeks. Pachal has four points, 36 shots on net, 102 hits, 49 blocked shots, 43 PIM and a plus-2 rating through 36 appearances between the Flames and the Golden Knights this season.
-
Matthew Coronato CGY RW
Flames' Matthew Coronato: Supplies assist in loss
7h agoCoronato notched an assist in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Coronato helped out on Kevin Rooney's tally in the second period. With three points over his last seven contests, Coronato has done well despite seeing limited ice time in a bottom-six role. The rookie winger is at six points, 43 shots on net and a minus-10 rating over 22 appearances this season.
-
Mikael Backlund CGY C
Flames' Mikael Backlund: Generates assist in loss
7h agoBacklund logged an assist and two shots on goal in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Backlund is up to eight points over nine games in March. He set up a MacKenzie Weegar tally in the third period of Monday's defeat. Backlund is up to 38 points, 187 shots on net, 63 hits and a plus-6 rating through 68 outings this season. He's essentially functioned as a top-six option all year, though he was often listed on the third line before the Flames' roster was thinned out by trades.
-
Kevin Rooney CGY C
Flames' Kevin Rooney: Deposits goal in loss
7h agoRooney scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Rooney snapped a 16-game point drought with his second-period tally. The 30-year-old has had limited chances to produce offense while playing on the Flames' fourth line. He's posted two goals, 15 shots on net, 37 hits, 18 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 19 appearances, numbers not good enough to justify a roster spot in nearly all fantasy formats.
-
MacKenzie Weegar CGY D
Flames' MacKenzie Weegar: Finds twine Monday
7h agoWeegar scored a goal on six shots, blocked five shots, logged two hits and added two PIM in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Capitals.
Weegar pulled a goal back for the Flames in the third period, but a comeback push never materialized. The 30-year-old defenseman hadn't scored a goal since his Feb. 10 hat trick versus the Islanders, but he had a solid seven helpers over 15 games between goals. He's up to 16 tallies, 40 points, 173 shots on net, 166 blocked shots, 161 hits, 45 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 68 appearances. Weegar's still got a good shot to top his career high of 44 points from 2021-22.
-
Brian Dumoulin SEA D
Kraken's Brian Dumoulin: Garners assist
7h agoDumoulin notched an assist in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
Dumoulin snapped a 10-game point drought with his helper on Jordan Eberle's first-period tally. The 32-year-old Dumoulin has filled in on the top pairing while Vince Dunn (upper body) is out of the lineup. Dumoulin has 13 points, 55 shots on net, 61 hits, 66 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 65 appearances, doing little to earn fantasy interest in most formats.
